"Our Art Nouveau hall has always been a centrepiece of the hotel and is very popular with guests," reports Director Edi Kurmann. "But the room, which was built in 1910, was getting on in years. Now we have had it completely refurbished by experienced restorers and craftsmen - to the delight of the guests who enjoy their meals here."
The ornamentation of the entire window front with its effective play of colours is enchanting. (Dining here takes you back to the early days of the spa business on Lake Lucerne).
Guests who know the hall from the past will immediately notice that the carpet has also been removed. What emerged was an elegant solid wood parquet floor that effectively sets off the new tables and chairs. Painters have worked on the walls and stucco and the buffet area has also been refurbished.
A lot of effort has gone into the 4 decorative brass chandeliers. They each consist of around 8,000 individual parts, all of which have been removed, cleaned and repolished or painted. "Harmonious and atmospheric" is the verdict of the experts and guests alike. True to its motto "Not at home and yet at home", the ambience of the spa hotel has been further enhanced by the renovation. The atmosphere contributes significantly to the success of relaxation and healing.
"We are repeatedly told that there is hardly anything comparable in Central Switzerland," says Director Kurmann happily. "In this context, we would like to emphasise that none of this is an exclusive pleasure for our guests. We are an open house and welcome visits from the local population. Anyone with an eye for beauty is welcome to come and have a look around and perhaps enjoy a coffee and a slice of homemade cake."
Last but not least, the art nouveau hall of the Kurhaus Seeblick can also be hired after 8 p.m. for stylish aperitifs and celebrations and you can indulge in culinary delights from the hotel's recognised fine cuisine.
